Ortisei
Val Gardena is constituted by three cities: Ortisei, S. Cristina and Selva. The city of Ortisei with its 5500 inhabitants is the biggest one and characterized by its pedestrian area offering opportunities for walking, shopping and having some coffee.
Val Gardena Museum is in the centre of Ortisei and keeps geological, biological, art and cultural treasures. There are also the personal objects of the writer, actor and movie maker Luigi Trenker.
He was born in Ortisei, as well as Giorgio Moroder, the skier Isolde Kostner and the figure skater Carolina Kostner, and this is a pride for Ortisei inhabitants.
